CJSW Campus Radio
recently held their inaugural Pop Culture Extravaganza
fundraiser on Sunday, May 7th, 2006 at MacEwan Hall on
the University of Calgary Campus. The event was designed
to raise funds for
CJSW’s
upcoming expansion. Through their annual Funding Drive,
CJSW was able to save
for the much needed new facilities, however, with the
rising cost of construction, they found themselves in a
position of needing even more capital to complete the
project, thus the Pop Culture Extravaganza was born!
Axe Music Calgary was
proud to come on board as a corporate sponsor, providing
guitars to act as canvases for some of Calgary's best
artists, allowing them to be painted and included in a
silent auction to raise money.
The event
was a collection of local, independent businesses,
record labels and collectors and dealers from all over
the province to come show their support for a great
cause! The event featured new and vintage collectables,
records, CDs, 7”s, 45s, videos, DVDs, music memorabilia,
posters, clothing, and other great surprises, and was a
great success!
